Paediatric First Aid Training Course

This two-day Paediatric First Aid training course is designed for people working with children, especially those under 8. It meets the requirements for the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework (EYFS) and Ofsted.  On completion candidates are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years.

First Aid - Taught by Experts

It is a comprehensive course, taught by highly trained former nurses, and other expert, medically trained staff.  It focuses on the specific needs of children and infants.

Paediatric First Aid course contents

The course covers the following topics:

• Planning for and dealing with emergencies
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation  for child, baby and adult
• Choking
• Shock
• Bleeding
• Anaphylactic shock
• Burns and scalds and electric shock
• Fractures
• Head, neck and back injuries
• Poisoning
• Eye injuries
• Foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses
• Bites and stings
• Effects of extremes of temperature including febrile convulsion
• Recognising and appropriately dealing with children with chronic medical conditions including- asthma, epilepsy, diabetes and sickle cell anaemia
• Recognising other sudden illness such as meningitis
• Contents of First aid boxes
• Accurate recording and reporting of accidents and incidents.

Paediatric First Aid - Course Suitability

The Paediatric First Aid training course is specifically designed for:

• Teachers, teaching assistants and other schools staff
• Childminders
• Youth group leaders
• Scout and guide leaders
• Others working with children up to the age of eight

The in-house price for this two-day course is: £570 + VAT (for up to 10 candidates).
